I owe my bank in NYS a total of $64.92. It is a federal credit union, and I now currently reside in Texas. I called my bank and asked how I can pay off this debt, and they replied that I must come into the bank itself to pay the money that I owe them. Under my current circumstances I cannot travel from Texas to New York just to deposit $64.92. So I am unsure of what to do. What actions can the bank take, and what actions can I take?

Since it is a federal credit union do they deduct money owed to them directly from your account to cover what you owe them?
I know my bank does but it is not a federal credit union. If they do take it directly out is there a way you can deposit the money in the account or do you even still have the acct.
What is the closest branch to you?

I can't believe you have to appear in person. Talk to a higher up.

They closed the account due to the debt.

Couldn't I simply send them a money order with the bank name on it?

That should work because if they cash it it means they accepted it therefore that should make it done and over.
We were going by what you said the bank told you.
If you do do that make sure that you send it with proof like certified and/or registered.
I always get confused with which one is the proper one to do. Also keep the money order receipt and call the number on the money order to make sure it was cashed.

I would talk to someone first. If you do send an MO, make sure the account number is listed.
