I have two recepticals in one of my wall downstairs. When I check for ground (probe small slot and ground hole with elec. Tester) my probe lights up.

However, when I connect something to the receptacle, it does not power anything on:mad:

I switched the recepticles and still I get the same thing. Any guidance on where to go would be apprecieated.

Thanks.

How about if you slip your probe into the two slots for the plug and skip the ground hole, bet there is no power. You may have lost your ground wire along the way to the panel. Open the receptacle and test between black and white, no power go back to the panel and test the black and white there. Come back and tell us what you got

If you have power between hot and ground and not the hot and neutral, sounds like you lost a neutral(white wire) connection.
