I got a question.

I'm over at my moms house, and our dog (wel, moms dog, but still part of the family as a whole lol) is shaking a little. Not a seizure. Just trembling a bit. She is still happy as can be. Not lethargic or anything. She just ate a bone (a treat, not a real bone)

Her heart is beating hard. Not FAST. But just a little hard. So maybe her blood pressure is low, but I don't have a BP tester and I'm not sure if that would work on a dog lol.

Any thoughts?

About the only thing different today is we had some family over, and she got to eat an italian sausage piece. Not a whole one. Just a bite. Lol.

Thanks :)

It could be a lot of things Jennie.

She could be nervous or in pain.

What sort or bone treat was it?
A rawhide one or a cruchy one? Rawhide is actually very bad for dogs and can cause blockages, I don't know why they sell them.

The Italian sausage could have caused Pancreatitis, while it is very rare for this to happen, if the dog has a predisposition to the disease a small amount of fat from something like a sausage can trigger it, in most dogs that would do no harm though.

Did anything happen to her while the family was over?
Any little kids unnattended that may have done something to her accidentally and scared her?

Oh she has had italian sausage before. So I don't think she is predisposed to pancreitias. But ill definatlye let every one know NOT to give it to the dogs anymore!

The little kids is what we were wondering too. Although they aren't really LITTLE kids, they are very rowdy undiscaplined kids. So its very possible that one of the little kids (did I think brat in my head? Hmm) may have done something to her.

It wasn't a rawhide one. It was the crunchy ones made by milk bone. Mostly rice and some flavors. (accually I like to take a bite sometimes too :P taste like grapenuts :D )

She is sleeping now... brb...

OK I just checked her again... I think it was one of the kids. She is still a little jumpy (jumped up startled when I walked by her) but she isn't trembling anymore and her heart isn't pounding.

Thanks shaz. I think it was definitely anxiety.

That's OK, just keep an eye on her.

Little brats... whoops, I mean kids can stress a dog out if there's enough of them :)

Mine get all sorts of treats they really shouldn't and it has never hurt them, it is always better to be cautious though.

Darn Brody is shockng for stealing coffee, I'll make a cup, drink half of it, turn around and t's all gone... sneaky boy.

We have only ever had one dog have pancreatitis and she was the only dog that never had anything fatty in her life

Good luck, let me know if you notice any changes with her.
