Have been going through a debt management group for the last 4 years trying to pay off credit cards which I cut up at that time. Talked to them last month and basically found out that all my hard work is just not working after all. Interest rates are outrageous and I am not even working on the principle on most of them. So, what happens other than my credit being ruined for 7 years? Ready to throw up my hands and say I give up. I don't want to but these companies do not or will not drop the interest rate. So-since you can't get blood from a turnip-what else can they do? Not sure of SC law and what can be done other than harassing me. Anyone out there have any clue?

I think that 7 years of bad credit would be worth getting a fresh start. I know I would do it. Not sure of the laws, but there are credit counselors that would offer a program which would effect your credit for 6 years. Or Bankruptry 7.
Bankruptry you would be released of all your debt after a year?
Credit Counseling or another type of a lesser degree of bankrupty would have you paying off debt for a certain amount of years. Would cut that debt in half and would effect your credit for 6 years.
This might just be in Canada.

Most debt management companies are junk. Why not pay back the debt and handle this yourself? What you are paying them to supposedly do you can do yourself.
