I am removing a dishwasher and not replacing it - my concern is the drain line from the dishwasher to the drain under my sink - it does not go to the disposer - it connects to the drain under the sink - is there something that can close that "hole" in the drain? Or do I have to replace that part of the sink drain?

Replace the tail pipe extension that has the dishwasher spur with an extension that does not have the spur. Should all be simple compression connections.

Hi Cowboy:

As Harold suggested, you can replace your BRANCH TAILPIECE (see 1st image) with a new 1.5" FLANGED TAILPIECE (2nd image... comes plastic or metal). Cheap, easy fix... most of the time.

You will also need a tailpiece washer (3rd image) to seal the flanged tailpiece to the kitchen sink basket strainer. Purchase a couple 1.5" slip nuts and washers in case you need to replace the seal between the flanged tailpiece and the drain pipe.

Let us know if you have questions...
