I've got a 1 1/2" pipe which has a 1/4" hole one side through. Is there a simple 1/4" plug I could use, or do I have to cut out pipe and use a coupling? It is a high pressure (swimming pool) pipe.

If it has pressure behind it, I would cut that part out, and put 2 couplings, and a replacement piece on.

I have tried many time just drainage pipes, and nothing seems to work the best, except replace that section.

I agree with AK. Best to replace bad section of pipe.

PVC is tough. How did you manage to get a 1/4" hole through it?
Another simpler way to patch the hole is with a dresser coupling,( see image).
Simply make a cut over the hole and slip the dresser coupling on the pipe and tighten the compression nuts. I have had a dresser coupling on my pressure sprinkler line for years with no leaks. Good luck, Tom

My thoughts were to just to do as you said... guess I was hoping for some easier plug solution. Not that it takes any significant time to simply cut out and install these sections, but... ah, laziness...


A dresser coupling... never used it. Looks simple enough. Let me give that a run through the brain. Thanks guys!

I agree with posts above: PVC is cheap and Home Owner friendly. Cut the section out and replace it.

But if you don't feel comfortable replacing it, there is a clamp, called KwikClamp that is suitable for your situation. No cutting, no glue. Clean job. See the enclosed photo.

However, if you have a 1/4" hole in your pressure pipe - any clamp you put over it is only a temporary solution. You should plan on repairing it the right way as soon as possible.
