Hi,

I am shortly going for a middle management job. I have no experience in such a role. I have a strong education background with 3 years experience in the area of activity I am applying for.

When I am asked about management styles, I am wondering how does one get around the fact one has no practical management experience. Any suggestions on how I should structure my answer.

Thanking you in advance.

Decide what kind of manager you will be: an authoritarian one who's word is law and all answer to you while you crack the whip over them, or a democratic one who turns his employees into teams that work together for the good of the company. Or are you a blend of both types? All three types can be very effective, by the way.

Go to the library and ask a reference librarian the same question. He/she will help you find some books on management and how to be an effective manager. For instance, former Mayor Giuliani of NYC wrote a terrific book called Leadership. It's worth reading.
