Hi never used this site before, however hope someone can help please... My washing machine is between 3-5 years old ~ new when purchased. Hotpoint WMA36 1300 spin model ref on rear is 03181784 (?) not sure if that is the serial number?

It works OK until the spin program... then you need to get your headphones out because it's so loud... noisy isn't the word, you have to remove yourself from the kitchen if the phone rings to hear! Doesn't appear to effect the washing or program just our ears!

My husband say's it the bearings? So are they worth repairing? Or is the baffles? If so are where are they... any asssitance would be gratefully received... thanks a bunch

Kindest regards

Hi Claire,

I have a same washing machine and have burned the control panel at the front, I found your notes but it over a year old now! I wonder you still have the old washing machine and did you manage to get it fixed? Do you still have it?

I am looking for old control parts of this washing machine Hotpoint WMA36 to replace my damage one! If you still have it please could I have this part.
Please email.

Thanks,
Nhan.

Your description sounds like either something got stuck between the drum and the drum wall (meaning possibility of repair) or - even more likely - that the drum bearing has gone (meaning machine replacement).

Check where the sound is coming from. Open up the rear panel and also listen there to locate the noise (make sure not to touch anything electric or rotating).

Something stuck can be removed from the waterpump access hole.
A mainbearing can be repaired, but the cost will most probably exceed the price of a new machine, while you still sit with a couple of years old machine.

Just had the same problem last year myself, so we enjoy the brand new one we have now : faster, easier, and cheaper than the repair of the main bearing.

Advice : offer the deceased remains of your washing machine (if it is the bearing) to "nhanvu" for spareparts. ;)

Success !
