I have a 7 year old female german shepherd who since last week (03-08-2009) has lost her appetite. We took her to the vet and he suspects that she might have Billiary. He did prescribe an antibiotic and prednisone which she has completed her course.

She still displays a diminished appetite and eats very small meals compared to her usual appetite. Her diet now comprises of raw chicken liver, dry dog chunks for mature/older dogs, her dog biscuits which are high in omega 3 oils and boiled chicken breast meat. But she has very small quantities of any of these.

We have also noticed that she seems to be constipated. Could anything that she is eating listed above be causing this? Any suggestions on what we could feed her to help her condition get better?

Any suggestions/advice that anyone might have will be greatly appreciated.

The vet didn't seem too positive on her future recovery so we just want to make her as comfortable as possible.

Unfortunately I do not know much about Billary.

I did however come across a site that has some great at home remedies for constipation.
They include pumpkin, canned food, olive oil and fibre suppliments...
