This isn't really about landline phones but I didn't know which topic to put it under.
Anyway,
Yesterday at about 10:00am a man phones me and asks for my parents, I simply tell him, sorry no they aren't home right now, he then asks me if I am home alone, in which I said no my brothers home (don't ask me why I gave this out over the phone like that, I was very caught off guard, it actually had woken me up), he then continues asking me my age, worried he's going to ask me to do some survey I lied and said I was 16 (actually 18) then he says ohhh OK you're old enough to be home alone, I was getting scared for a minute.. (which totally weirded me out.. ) Then he asks me if I know a Shane _____ (same last name as me) but I had no clue who this person was, so I said no, he asks again Are you sure you don't know him, and I say yah I don't know him, and he continues on asking the same question. After about 5 minutes of that he said he would phone back later.
Immediately I phone my dad and tell him what happened and give him the phone number. My dad had told me it was just some mobility phone service, but they will not be phoning here again.
Anyway to my questions, 1. Why would someone who was working at a mobility phone service not even tell me that in the beginning, and just start the conversation by saying heyy, and why would he be asking all these questions about me being home alone!
2. Any ideas on why they would phone me and constantly ask me if I knew a Shane ___??
