View Full Version : A lesson about Canada

Forget Rednecks, Here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about Canucks.
If your local Dairy Queen is closed from
September through May,
You may live in Canada.
If someone in a Home Depot store
Offers you assistance and they don't work there,
You may live in Canada.
If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time,
You may live in Canada.
If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation
With someone who dialed a wrong number,
You may live in Canada.
If 'Vacation' means going anywhere
South of Detroit for the weekend,
You may live in Canada.
If you measure distance in hours,
You may live in Canada.
If you know several people
Who have hit a deer more than once,
You may live in Canada.
If you have switched from 'heat' to 'A/C'
In the same day and back again,
You may live in Canada.
If you can drive 90 km/hr through 2 feet of snow
During a raging blizzard without flinching,
You may live in Canada.
If you install security lights on your house and garage,
But leave both unlocked,
You may live in Canada.
If you carry jumper cables in your car
And your wife knows how to use them,
You may live in Canada.
If you design your kid's Halloween costume
To fit over a snowsuit,
You may live in Canada.
If the speed limit on the highway is 80 km --
You're going 90 and everybody is passing you,
You may live in Canada.
If driving is better in the winter
Because the potholes are filled with snow,
You may live in Canada.
If you know all 4 seasons:
Almost winter, winter, still winter,
And road construction,
You may live in Canada.
If you have more miles
On your snow blower than your car,
You may live in Canada.
If you find 2 degrees 'a little chilly',
You may live in Canada.
If you actually understand these jokes,
You definitely live in Canada.

Eh is mainly used in Newfoundland, not Alberta. Very few Albertans say eh, no one says aboot, we actually talk like normal humans beings. :)

30 degrees is not fit for man nor beast. Air conditioning is the only option when it gets that hot! ;)
3 degrees, it's a bit chilly, probably wouldn't wear shorts, but I don't need a jacket, or a long sleeve shirt.

Skiing, snowboarding, sledding, on a warmer day, otherwise you will freeze to death.
There's a reason that so many babies are born in September, because the winter is cold and long! :)

As for snow in October. Well, let's just say, buy little cheeks a costume that fits over a snow suit. ;)
The malls here actually pass out candy so you can stay indoors.
Parents with hot chocolate and bailey's, walking around the block with their kids, dogs in jackets, snow pants, boots, scarves, they might as well not even bother dressing up, the people just answer the door, throw candy and shut the door as fast as they can so they don't get cold.
It's fun! :)

Alty - You forgot about the Canadian tourists in South Florida in the winter. They come in droves and actually go into the water in Jan and Feb when the air temperature is about 40 degrees and think it's warm. Yep. I've seen them do this. My favorite thing was to spot some guys in nothing but speedos headed to the beach from the Swimming Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale Beach area and casually ask them if they were from Canada. Why, yes we are. How did you know? They'd reply. My reply was always, "Oh, just a lucky guess".

The part that I am in Nova Scotia didn't get hit too hard. But other parts of the province did. And the rain wasn't too bad as today and yesterday I had to dig a 630ft. Trench for an ingeround fence for my dog. Whoever says a girl can't dig... Ha I could outdig all the guys. It was me and my mom out dig, my dad and 2older brothers wouldn't help!
