Well, he did it, he got on the plane and he's in the Caribbean to attend med school.

It was tough going for a while, he called me during his two layovers and had some trouble once entering Granada,
They lost his luggage and he has a warrant for his arrest in Atlanta because of an unpaid speeding ticket,
But other then that, he's okay.

His dorm is on the beach, so it's a bit hard to feel sorry for him right now.

Anyway, good luck Sneezy, study hard, have a bit of fun and don't sweat the small stuff.

In around 8 years we'll have a doctor on AMHD. :)

NH, he didn't resign, he doesn't have the tuition. He was told he could pay monthly, they decided they wanted it all up front. They didn't tell him until he was already there. He doesn't have a choice.

The good news is that he'll probably be going back in January, August at the latest. This is not the end of his dream, it's just being put on hold for a while.

oh boy. So... the deal is that I come back in January... only problem is, I am trying dearly to bypass the first semester so that I can return with my friends. They'll let me bypass, if and only if I take courses when I'm back home and show that I'm not messing around...

... so when I get back, I have to take about 4 courses, possibly volunteer a little, run my business, and I'm trying to get an EMT graveyard shift... so that means my life won't be all peaches. It's OK though. Anything to be a doc, right?

I have to be honest, I've been absolutely hammered for the past 4 days. A bottle of rum (distilled here... 70% alcohol) is only $6. Seriously. A beer is about $1 a bottle. So, alcohol = very very cheap. Only problem is, everything else is UBER expensive. A pack of floss is $10... a bottle of juice is $8... forget food. I have yet to spend less than $10 a meal here. So... thus... I've been drunk for the past 4 days. Today, I woke up at 10am and decided that I will not drink anymore.

... little did I know that the student association was handing out free shots. Oy. So now, I'm going to take it easy tonight... do some laundry... etc.

I'm working on trying to buy a flight back to the states, but I can't find one for less than $2k... which is bad... since I flew down here for $350. So yeah, I'll be back guys!

For some reason, I could not sleep last night... finally fell asleep at about 5 am this morning.

Congratulations Marta. She has started college, not easy since English is her second language and she hasn't been in school for quite a few years. Well she 'aced' her first semester, Psychology; she had 150 correct out of 150 questions (time limits). Advanced English, 'aced' it.

Yesterday and this morning she took the test to determine her position in 'math.' She was scared to death... guess what?? She passed... that means that she placed where she now can advance and not take some of the refresher classes that would have been necessary otherwise.

Extremely proud of this girl. She was scared sh*tless, even made herself 'sick' over taking it... she's a pretty smart cookie and pssssst... a 'looker' too... :)

So, since I didn't get to sleep until 5 am I am in bed late and the phone rings... there is this woman screaming and singing on the line, telling me that I was right she may be a little smart!?

After she calmed a bit, of course, I asked 'who is this?"

Anyway, I am pretty much on my own today as I gave her the credit card, poor girl needs to shop now. But I have the Bears game this afternoon..!

I don't drink that much during the week, but that doesn't mean I can't kick your Aussie arse. :p

One beer a day during the week is the norm. Depending on who comes over on the weekend, anywhere from 3 cans to 3 cases. :)

I went to Germany by myself when I was 16, the drinking age is 14 in Germany, here in Canada it's 18. So needless to say, I hadn't had a lot of opportunity to drink until I went on my trip. No, fake ID or trying to pass for 18 wasn't going to happen, at 16 I looked like a twelve year old with curves and breasts.

Anyway, when I first got there my older cousins (at the time 18 and 19) decided to get me drunk. It didn't take much. One beer and I was out of it.

By the end of my two month stay there I could drink both my cousins under the table and the 40 year old Italian that owned the pizzaria down the street from my Aunts. He really wanted to get me drunk, so he pulled out a bottle of something called Grappa, I call it Krappa, because that's how it tastes. It's terrible and almost all alcohol.

Yes, I had to be helped home that night, in fact, I seem to recall telling off a bunch of American guys and then laying down on the street because I was tired, but my cousins got me home and safely to bed.

Anyway, my point is, I don't think you'll win M. :)
