I have a cathedral ceiling in my living room and I have drilled a hole in the ceiling and ran a fish tape through it to re run the speaker wires that are already up there. My problem is that there is thick batting insullation and I can't see where the fish tape came out. The hole in the ceiling is on the edge of the ceiling where it slopes down and I can't really get to it in the attic. Any tricks to doing this?? 23266 The wires will be coming out right above the TV. This is an exterior wall.

Can you reach through Speaker opening and remove any insulation in the way?
I have a Good Klein Stainless fish tape, but what works good for short runs is the inside of Boat Control cables, a little bigger than a pencil lead, very flexible in all directions(round), and stainless, doesn't leave marks as easy.
You can use 2 fish tapes, a hook on each end and continuity light or beeper to indicate when both tapes make contact.

I got it! I measured over the 8' from the edge of the wall and crawled over to where the fish tape came out under the insullation. I have to do it again though since the wire pulled off the fish tape. I made the hole larger and will try to push the insulation out of the way until I get the wires pulled through.
It's HOT in the attic!!
Thanks for your help. The speaker holes are about 7' away from where I want the wire to come through.
Thanks,
Patty
