I'm in charge of decorating the reception for my son's wedding in January. The colors are red, black, white & silver. The reception venue won't allow candles. My first idea was to do wintry/sparkly, but now I have to pull this off without candles. We're also on a tight budget. Any ideas?

I'm thinking red roses
Tall thin black flower vases
Snowflakes, hearts and stars
Clear miniture lights
And silver mesh ribbon

You can pick up battery operated christmas lights really cheap after December. (I got them for $2 each)

I bought a ton of clear and colored ones last year, they were just little fairy lights in strings of 10 or 20 and run off 2 batteries.

You could either wrap them around vases or arrange them in the flowers.

You could use glitter on dark table cloths (if they allow it - be sure to ask) and any light in the room will make them shine.

If they don't allow loose glitter, you can get glitter spray paint fairly cheap and spray snowflakes made of either cardstock, wood, or plastic (check craft stores).

Another idea:

~Wide plain vases filled with water
~Fill the bottom with glitter OR clear marbles (I've seen them at the Dollar Tree)
~submerge one or two flowers (red rose?) so its totally under water

I've seen similar designs and its very dramatic, inexpensive, and elegant.

There are battery operated candles. They look like the real deal but they're fireless.

The dollar store sells them (the tea candles) and I've seen them at Walmart too.
