I have a zanussi condeser dryer that was working fine, but now suddenly every time I switch it on it trips the fuse box, any ideas why?

Thanks

Could be any number of things.

One thing that is cool about a dead short is that MOST of the time, dissasembleing the electrical circuitry in an appliance or piece of equipment, normally there is a dead giveaway to the problem. Normally there will be a great big ol black spot somewhere where it shorted out.

If its not obvious, then prepare for a possible head beating problem. Trying to diagnose why a fuse is blowing can be a little tricky. This is because you can't apply voltage to the machine to see what's going wrong. Usually a fuse blowing problem is either really easy, or really hard, no in between.

I will say, that its most likley not in the cord, that is, if you say it won't trip until you press the start button. Something is dead shorting when that button makes.

When checking for burned wires, always remember to reasemble the machine with respect to the ground, meaning, don't dismiss that little green wire, anything ground that needs to be unhooked for dissasemble, reasemble before applying power to the machine. This includes clips on the chassis, frame, panels, etc. If this step is skipped, then next time you turn it on, you could get a little jolt.
