I have an old ceiling fan. It was in the house when I bought it so I have no info on it. There are no tags or model #s on it. It is controlled by 2 separate wall mounted switches. One light dimmer and one fan speed controller.

I wanted to update the light fixture on it so I removed it. Wiring was 2 wires. White(light) to White(fan wiring) and Black(light) to Blue(fan wiring)

I wire nutted everything and checked the fan with the light removed. It still ran.

Got the new celing fan light fixture a few days later. It took a while to find something that would fit since it was so old.

Installed new fixture and wired it up the same way as the old fixture. White(light) to white(fan) and Black (light) to blue (fan)

Now the light works great but the fan doesn't and it was wired the same way.

Fan has a toggle switch on the housing. I tried moving it up and down --no difference.
It has has a pull chain switch that I pulled several times-- no difference.

Just for giggles, I bypassed the fan speed switch --no difference. It still didn't run.

I am really confused on this one as both the fan and light worked fine before I started. All I did was swap a light fixture wire for wire. Now the fan doesn't work.

Any ideas!

For the fan and light to be controlled by two switches there must be 3 wires between the switch and the ceiling.
Can't quite follow you description. When you say "White (light) to white (fan)" do you mean” white (house) to white (fan)”?

Pull switch and tell us what wires are connect to switches.

Sounds like something came loose inside the switch housing when you changed the light kit. Check ALL the white wires.

Pics?
