While replacing an outside wall light fixture I shut off the breaker that controlled the correct circuit. After wiring the fixture I turned the breaker on and nothing on the circuit worked. I disconnected the fixture, thinking that it might be the cause, somehow, but still, nothing worked. The breaker does not trip, so it can't be a short somewhere, and everything was working perfectly before I decided to replace the fixture. Can anyone give me any ideas about what to do? Thanks.

I hate when this happens, simple job turns into a problem.

Possibly the light is on a GFI protected circuit. Did you check all of your GFI outlets, see if one is tripped and needs to be reset?

The breaker could have failed to close, and is defective..

Those are the most likely causes.

If not, then troubleshooting will need to be done, beginning at the breaker and following the circuit checking for power, and discovering where the power stops due to a poor connection.

Make sure that there isn't another wire that you didn't see in the box for the light .
