I am trying to remember a cartoon I watched back in the day that I believe was originally an anime or magna cartoon. The story was about these knights who could get special armor and were fighting this giant dark lord knight. It seems like it was a limited series. It kind of had the feel of a futuristic futile japan.

I figured it out. It was called "Ronin Warriors" 1989
