I see no requirement for a State license but different Cities DO have licensing requirements. Check with your City.

Hi, kaseyguthrie!
It's likely that http://www.sba.gov/ and/or ??????????????????????????? (http://www.score.org/index.html) (that's score.org, in case it all looks like question marks) will have the specific information that you need concerning having a small business. However, it would also be helpful if you would specify the type of painting it is that you're going to be doing. For instance, there's a big difference between the requirements for painting automobiles and that which is required for painting the interior or exterior of businesses and dwellings.
Thanks!

It never occurred to me that painting automobiles would require a license to paint - I assumed that painting autos would require some type of mechanic's license, which I did NOT look into for the State of Washington. I only looked at interior/exterior buildings which does NOT require a State license.

Dear Judy,
It would be helpful, as you already know, if posters would be specific about what they're inquiring.
Thanks!
