I know there have been several posts dealing with renters in foreclosure situations. What rights do I have when the house I am in has already been auctioned and I was just notified a week before? I am currently in a home in VA that

You will have 90 days to vacate as per new federal law. So start looking for a new place.
If the new owner bills you for rental, then pay it.

Is it 90 days from the auction date or from the date of notice of auction? We never received a notice. Our realtor said to wait until we hear from the bank because they were supposed to do cash for keys which would be any where from $2,500 - $3,000.
Someone else said that I need to get a lawyer because the bank can come to the house now and change the locks.

No they cannot change the locks. If they do you call the police, show that you are residents (driver's license etc.) and they will let you back in. You can then sue for illegal eviction.
As I said its recent federal law that requires you be given 90 days. That should be 90 days from the change in ownership.
The cash for keys deal is not uncommon, but it may mean you will have less time to find a new place.
