Have you been trying for the year and 7 months or is it more recent?
Most couples will become pregnant within a year of active trying... some will naturally take longer as well.
A great book to check out at your local library or to purchase is Taking Charge of Your Fertility. You will find a good deal of information regarding how to determine when you are most likely ovulating, nutritionally how best to prepare for pregnancy (both you and your husband), what lifestyle changes to make, etc..
You can also find numerous websites that give information on ovulation. There are ovulation predictor kits you can purchase and try, online calculators that will give you a place to start, and so on.
As you read and learn more about fertility and ways to increase your odds of success, keep in mind that much of the information will be based on averages. For example, some women will ovulate sooner or later than the norm, but it will be perfectly normal for them.
Sometimes it is nothing more than just a matter of time. You might try having sex every other day throughout each cycle, or try one of the methods of determining ovulation and focus more on the week leading up to when you suspect it is going to occur.
One important thing is to try to avoid having sex become a chore where it is regulated by the date on the calendar and where its only purpose becomes trying to get pregnant.
