When you enter the US at a port of entry the officer will ask you questions regarding you and your stay such as your reason for visiting, current occupation, name etc My question is do they keep any record of your answers?

If you are NOT a US citizen - and it appears you are not - then, yes, your answers will be noted. It's the only way to make certain you don't stay in this Country.

I don't know if everyone's answers are recorded or if it's done randomly.

not all the information is recorded.

What I was talking about was questions asked verbally...

Do you know if they keep records of this and what info they do?

The officer has the discretion to record in the computer system for entries and departures, any information the officer deems relevant. Generally, they are not going to transcribe the entire conversation.

Check with some experienced immigration attorneys that have filed FOIA's from CBP and you will see the computer printout is almost entirely factual documentary information.
