I have been having problems with my 76 Nova's cooling system. After trying several times to fix the problem, it finally went up to a temp of about 350. There was smoke coming from around the valve cover and head (straight six). I'm tired of working on this engine just to have something to mess up again. I've decided to exchange this engine (250) with a 327 that has a racing cam, Mallory dual points distributor, Eldebrock carb. And is bored 30 over. I have both engines out right now and am about to connect the transmission to the 327. I should have checked before, but, I don't know if the 327 bolt pattern will match up to the TH350. If the fly wheel will work or if I need to use the one from the 250 or buy a new one. If the HP is going to be too much for this tranny (which I doubt). Also, if there are any other suggestions for the swap. The 327 was on a 3 speed manual transmission, clutch plate is off. Any suggestions would be helpful, especially experienced ones. This is a project I can't afford to mess up because it is my only ride.

PS. The engine has sat in a car for about 4 years. It can still be turned by sticking a 3/4 socket (I think) to the engine and turning it by hand. Any suggestions about what I need to clean and check would also be appreciated.

Another PS, the 327 came out of a 63 Corvette.
