8 yr old Yorkie. Excellent health.. full physical by vet reveals no health issues. Problem: Afraid of fireworks and since the 4th of July has been waking up every 1.5 to 2 hours. She Bolts from the bed, barking frantically and demanding to be let outside. Once outside she patrols the parameter of the yard... no toileting... and returns to the house... only to repeat this process every 1.5 to 2 hours throughout the night.
What I've already tried: 1. Daily 2 hours walks. 2. Vigorous playtime in late afternoon, early evening (a further attempt to tire her out). 3. Crating at night. The crate worked great the first 3 nights and we thought we'd found the solution. But now she is back to her nighttime craziness. She howls and scratches in the crate. In desperation, I move the crate to the downstairs bathroom and shut the door at the first outbreak of the night. It's the only way our family can get any sleep.
I feel bad because I think she probably continues to cry and howl and scratch all night long.
I would appreciate ANY help in this matter.
