I have an older GE washer model# WWA707OBALWH that has made a lot of noise since I got it 2 years ago. The noise it was making was like a really loud clatter especially while spinning and then would make a thunk at the end of each spin cycle. I've dealt with the noise until now because even as annoying as it was it washed the clothes but now it has gone so far that it does not spin at all any more. When it was working it always seemed like the spin cycle was off balance even if you re-adjusted the load. There is a black film all over the floor underneath the washer and covering the inside of the pressboard backing. The belt is in good shape, the pump spins and doesn't leak, but the belt doesn't move. The pulley that the belt is on does not move at all but the pump is spinning freely and the frame appears to be completely intact and solid.
