I have a 22hsp Troy-bilt Riding mower has a 46" deck. It keeps throwing the PTO Belt, I have put a new belt and extension spring on it and it still does it. What is the problem with this and how can I fix it.

Hi,
Could use a model number. Which belt? Does it have manual or electric engagement?
Peace,
Clarke

Troy-Bilt Pedal Drive Garden Tractor Model V809H. It the PTO Belt. This belt is the one that goes from bottom pulley of motor to the top pullens on the deck. As for manual or electric engagement. It' has a electric PTO Clutch, you have to pull the knob for it to engage. But if you don't engage it the mower want start. I have put a new belt and extension spring on it, but it keeps throwing the belt when you engage the blades.

Hi,
I would check the Vs of the three pulleys first for something jammed in them. I have seen chunks of branches get in them. In my neck of the woods we have lots of sycamore trees (called sweet gum trees) that have prickly seed balls (called gumballs) that will do this and tear something up in a heartbeat. Chunks of wood will do it, too.
If that gets nowhere, rotate the pulleys mainly the two on the deck) and see if one is opening up (separating) in a spot that lets the belt ride inward and causing it to run unevenly.
Peace,
Clarke
