Or is it called "The courtyard" is made by an artist named Charlot?

Also to you have the first name of the Author. A quick search of the name Charlot gave me

Also by SZL do you mean that the Size is large?

Okay, thanks. I tried to look for a definition on SZL and all I found was for 2 different countries and a language.

If it's the same Jean Charlot that I've found (mentioned on several pages on the web) then it very well might be worth something. Especially considering if its an original.

Some info on the artist and you can find some of his pieces for sale. (under artwork for sale and artwork wanted) It also seems that Jean Charlot is hanging in a few museums as well.

On the board for art there is a sticky that you might be interested in... seeing as the etching you have is SZL... This sticky also gives another possible explanation to the marking SZL that you might find of interest (regarding your etching by Jean Charlot.)

This is not by Jean Charlot (born in France 1898, worked in Mexico, U.S. died in Hawaii 1979.)

We have been able to find out little about your "Charlot." We do not even
know his first name. His works are usually popular scenes, animals, or
children, many signed and titled in pencil. They may be stamped
"SZL." A label on the back may carry a statement that they are original
etchings. Some are numbered and also carry a seal. Some have a copyright
notice and the name Camilla Lucas.

From a cursory search of the Internet, we have learned (but have not
verified) that SZL was Sidney Zoltan Lucas, the owner of a New York City
diamond district gallery named variously the Old Print Center and the
Camilla Lucas Gallery (named after his mother) from 1928 through the
1950s. During this period, it appears that both Lucases traveled
frequently to Europe and commissioned etchings by several French artists.
Some were published under the "PES" imprint.
