My room mates moved here and just recently they had told us they have scabies, I have a 10 month old son and now I am worried made the two go to the hospital to get a prescription to treat it but how do I know if me or my son is infected now? Neither of us have a rash or anything and I'm not itchy? What should I do to prevent my son from obtaining this? I would feel like a horrible parent if he got it :( because apparently they have been here over a month now and they had it before they moved here and they just now told us about it. So what all should I do to avoid it for my sons sake?

I would suggest contacting your pediatrician for professional preventive care.

Transmission of the mites involves close person-to-person contact of the skin-to-skin variety. It is hard, if not impossible, to catch scabies by shaking hands, hanging your coat next to someone who has it, or even sharing bedclothes that had mites in them the night before. Sexual physical contact, however, can transmit the disease.
