I found some basic outlines of the movie, but I am looking for what really happens.

I love the book the mist by stephen king. But I have yet to see the movie. Frm what I understand, you see a new ending, and find out what the mist and the monsters were? (not sure if stephen king wrote the new ending or not)

Could someone tell me EXACTLY what happened?

I know that he kills everyone including his son, and then the military shows up when he is about to kill himself. And I have heard supposedly the military tells him what the mist was..

The Mist, movie.
Actually, compared to the other Stephen King book-turned-movies over the years, this one actually follows fairly close.

When the creatures start attacking, we find out main characters (group) holed up into a grocery store. Some don't believe there is anything in the mist, they learn the hard way.
Sometime in there, a few military guys show up and get trapped there too. They explain that it was the gov't experimenting with temporal doorways to alt demensions (or something like that, it's been a while) and that the other stuff broke through to this side.

There is the crazy lady, who says God is punishing them. No one believes her, then she starts getting "followers".
She convinces them that it is the military's fault, and they try to "sacrifice" on of those military dudes to set it right.

The guy gets away with his son, (and his wife? Sorry, don't remember... :o) and an older couple. They drive until they run out of gas. Then, he shoots everyone in the car to "spare" them. He is going to shoot himself, and has no more bullets.
He finally gets desperate. Goes out into the mist, expecting the "monsters" to take him.

To his surprise, the military comes in with napalm and flamethrowers, killing them! Ooh, wow, he just killed his son when salvation was right there! What a bombshell!

HH, it was his.. well, mistress sort of. They both knew that his wife was more or less dead. But they took solace in each other in their our of darkness and all that romantic stuff.

I wonder if they explain the military thing in the book. They talk about Project Arrowhead, but ill be honest, I didn't understand a bit of that part. Stephen king has a brilliant mind, and like many brilliant people, he seems to have a hard time making NON brilliant people understand him ;)

Wow thank you for that ben!! I didn't think to look on IMDB which is where I do usually go, but its normally just a plot summery, that's the first time I've ever seen a FULL synopsis! Thanks :D it was like reading the book without all the crap in it ;)
