We have a gunite inground pool, with a fiberglass finish on it. The pool is as many as 40 years old. The fiberglass is failing and we need to remove it and have a new finish put on the pool, possibly plaster or pebblle tech or another option. My question is, we have had pool contractors out and have bid the job for several thousand $. This is outside of our budget and I want some tips and strategies on removing the fiberglass ourselves. There is water under the fiberglass and it is delaminating from part of the pool. Obviously this will be easy to separate at this section, what about where it is still bound to the gunite underneath. I do not know if there is a plaster finish on the gunite or not, Where the white fiberglass is flaked off there is a blue glittery finish, I am not sure if this is the adhesive or prep material that would go under the fiberglass. Any and all advise would be appreciated. :D
