We have a choc lab
He is 2 years old
We got him a BIG Furry pillow when he was just a puppy, hoping that that would help on those nights were you can't sleep cause of the sad crying.
He would always climb on top of it wrap his little paws around it thight, and suckle on it,
Well when we were building a new house we put it into storage for about going on a year now, now that the house is done and we unpacked and gave him is pillow back, he still does the same thing, and we're wondering why? Is he doing this at this age.
But it's SOOOOOOOOOOOO cute when he does it. It reminds me of him when he was just a baby.

He loves it! Simple to me, and he probably missed it.
My Dogs BFF is a Monster stuffed bear named Luther. I can not throw it away no matter what, he has loved it for 5 years, and is always cuddling with it. (or humping it) he is fixed by the way.

My soulcat Thomas Jefferson was fixated on a big catnip candy cane that he got as a Christmas gift when he was 13 years old. He would wrestle with it, chew on it until it was nice and drooly, lie on his back and move it back and forth with his paws like a medicine ball, and finally fall asleep on it. No other cat in our household dared play with it.

My mom's poodle had a rug, she tried to throw it away he dug it out of the garbage, she would wash it and he would sit by the dryer until it was opened and he would drag it out. Till the day he died he had that rug. Our Doberman had a stuffed bear? I think that was what that lump was when he passed on. I have had many animals do this it is just something constant in their lives that they have to have. My cat drug her bed out of the garbage also, Who knows why they do this. Our kids go through it too.

My mum had a "sucker"
He used to hold his favourite toy between his toys and just suck on it, he had it for years before he finally sucked a hole in it :D

I'm pretty sure it's an attachment and comfort level object. My dog had her bed. I had another cat that had a weird ribbon she kept for 7 years. Pet's have favorite things too!
