Hello Room!! :D
I was thinking about getting a Yorkie puppy when I move into my next aparmtment. I think those puppies are soooooooooooooooooo cute :) and I want one so bad! I was just wondering if anyone has a Yorkie or knows anything about them, your opinion on them etc.
Thanks!

Read up on the breed. I heard that you can get this box with grass in it that you can use in the apartment to train small dogs. I say, if you really want one, if you are allowed to have one in your new place, and fully investigate your future breed and breeder then go for it!

Yeah I do plan on reading about the dog. I just wanted to get you guys opinion on what you think of this particular dog. Just to make conversation.
But thanks, that grass in a box thinkg sounds pretty good to use.

I had a boyfriend that had that dog. She was very affectionate.. a real lap dog, but she was headstrong and had a mind of her own. She would go on adventures . She would find herself "new owners" every few months and would stop at home between them. She was a little hobo. They lived in a very small rural area. Off leash was normal around there.

OOOO I love dogs. :D
I don't know anything about Yorkies tough, other then the fact that they're cute (lol so sorry if my post here is kind of useless)
I didn't know that you could get a box with a patch of grass in it. Wonder if I can get one here (in the country where I live)
My sister and I live together and in one week she is getting a dog... I'm really exited. A tiny little Staffordshire bull terrier.
Advice: if you need any, although you might already have thought of it. :) Look into what type of breed that can suite you and one that you might like the character of. And who will be happy with your lifestyle etc.
When we got our dalmatian 4.5 years ago we didn't think about that at all. (which might seem a bit foolish) but we didn't consider the fact that they are the type of breed that get REALLY attached to their family and need a LOT of company. We were lucky though and he was lucky, cause my mom doesn't work. So he always has company. He's a trickster also and he can pretty much charm anyone into anything.
Also their hard to train. :) (sorry about the dog rant :) Love dogs. I also love how each dog differers in personalities.)

Certain reasons as to why you wish to get this certain breed?
They are prone to certain health issues, so be sure you have enough money to take them to the vet when needed.

Exactly, they can havea lot of problems.
My mother in law has one and she is blind, deaf, has terrible arthritis and slipping patellas.
She is on a lot of medication and is not cheap.
If you do your research then by all means go ahead but just remember that dogs can be very expensive and very time consuming.
Always buy from a reputable breeder who health tests their dogs or adopt one from a shelter.
Never buy a dog from a petstore, or a backyard breeder.

Oh wow. Thank you guys for all that advice.
Roxypox your post isn't useless :p I love dogs too. Never had a dog, that's why I'm so excited about getting on. Of course it won't be until I move though. No time soon, but very close.
Sariss: There isn't really a reason why I want this dog. Mainly because I think they are really cute. Plus I'm aiming to get a small dog. One that stays small, you know. And the Yorkie is the one that hit me.

I would get a cat... they aren't as emotionally shallow as dogs are...

As long as you aren't one of those dogs-as-fashion-accessories type people. :)

Yeah I want to get a cat too :) but my boyfriend doesn't want a cat. He thinks that they are sneaky. He's afraid that he will be alseep and the cat will claw him in the face :p LOL. Never know I may get a little kitten anyway.. along with the dog lol.
No I'm not the type to dress dogs up. That's nuts (no offense to the people that do). The only thing you may find me put on a dog is a scarf around the neck. Like for example when football season starts, I'll get a Eagles scarf and maybe put that around the dogs neck. That's about all.

Gosh, Dogs-as-fashion is horrible. In all honesty I don't think that everyone who get animals realizes that this is not just a pet that you have for this season and this season only. Lol in less you get a hamster, they don't live for that long, :p
Hotpotato: well, since you're not getting a dog (lol or a cat, or both) until you move, and you want a small dog (which is a good idea if your going to live in an apartment. ) There are different types of dog books available that give descriptions on different types of dogs. They usually say something about different characteristics of different dog-types; for example; avarage weight, hight, life expectancy... the one we have at home also give information as to the general use of the different dog-types that is; what their bread for and what they used to be bread for. :)
Lol glad my last post was of interest. Dogs really are lovely! Gosh I like how all the dogs I know have different personalities. :)
