I am about to start the divorce process. I have just celebrated three years of being sober. My soon to be ex-husband is very aware of all of my issues that have happened due to my addiction. Can this be used against me for the custody of our two children? The children are both under the age of three.

It can be brought up, but 3 years of sobriety and the kids being under 3 really shows that you stepped up as a mother and can actually work in your favor.
A lot is going to depend on other factors such as who has the kids right now, who has lawyers, living situations, etc, but ultimately, it is going to come down to what the judge decides is best for the kids.
My advice: get a lawyer and tell him everything. Let him put together the best case he can to get you the custody you want.
Edited to add: congratulations on 3 years!

Thank you stevetcg. The children are living with me. I've been on the same job for a little over a year now. I have had to move in with my parents, because I couldn't afford all the bills with just my salary. My oldest has her own bedroom and my youngest (under the two months old) shares my bedroom. I haven't been able to hire a lawyer yet. I'm going to return from maternity leave next week. I am unsure if he has hired one yet or not. I guess my next move needs to be getting back to work and hiring a good lawyer.
