My ceiling fan has two light circuits: an accent light and a light kit. The accent light has standard bulbs and the light kit has CFLs.

I connected a wireless remote to the fan motor and the accent lights. When the wireless remote receiver is powered the CFLs flicker. The CFLs have a separate wall switch controlling them and functioning properly.

The receiver controlled the fan speed at first but after a few minutes of testing the receiver has failed completely.

Is my new wire remote system faulty?

Did having CFLs on the same breaker cause the remote to fail?

Did I wire it incorrectly? The wiring was simple and everything works fine now that the remote is removed.

The fan and remote (TRC-100L) are Harbor Breeze.

Is the remote infrared or RF?

IR - have to aim it at fan
RF - can work in the next room

The remote is RF.

It could be a minimum load thing. Parallel like a 4 to 7W incadesent night light in parallel with the CFL's and see if it works.

Usually you have 24 hrs to edit, but I THINK some things activate after you have been a member for 48 hours.

The CFLs should not be getting any power at all. The switch the CFL's are connected to is turned off.

Still try the small light bulb thing.

I do agree with you, that it doesn't make much sense.

You can't use CFLs in this case. Replace them with incandescents and see if everything works. If not, the receiver was damaged or is defective in some way.
