Hi
Was due to move in with girlfriend I have my house and she has hers. She has poor credit history and Debt recovery companies hassling her for Council Tax,Catalogues, Gas and electricity arrears, credit card debt etc. Some of these have payment plans set out. I wrote a MBNA credit card cheque for £10140 plus transfer fees at 3.9%introductory rate for 1 year to her current account to try to restore her credit rating for our future. She finished with me and won't pay it back. I have £6000 credit card debt of my own with statements proving this. I have her signature on the cheque stub With the words debt consolidation as well. We were not living together but I stayed most nights.Off topic She has had the police called twice for violence towards me but because she had 2 kids idid not proceed further
What are my chances through court of getting this back and how much is it likely to cost.
Should I send a registered letter to her asking first for the money back?

Straight advice!

Do not throw money away in the incinerator.
It would appear that she has next to nothing and also, two children to maintain.

Chalk it to bad experience.
Forget her and the money she owes you.

Consider yourself to be lucky, this way
You will not have to maintain her for the
Rest of your life.

Even if you get a Judgment against her it appears she has no money with which to pay you - and she may never have the money.

Me? I'd walk away and, as Rolcam said, consider myself fortunate for getting away so "cheap."

I agree with you all the time - maybe I just don't hand you greenies, which you often deserve.
