My dog had surgery on his paw 3 days ago and doesn't want to eat. I did get him to eat hamburger and rice a few times but now turns his nose up at it. Also now I can only get him to drink very little water a day. What can I get him to eat?

First , you should give him some milk. Make sure he doesn't get dehydrated. Then you should give him something he can't turn down, like bacon. Not too much. Keep trying different things. Have you talked to the vet concerning this?

It is common for dogs to be off their food for a while after having anesthetic.
Is the wound healing okay?
Has he been vomiting or acting lethargic?
Grab some Pedialyte from your local chemist to add to his water if he is not drinking much. Pedialyte is an electrolyte that helps the dog absorb more fluids.
If he has gone off the hamburger try a little boiled chicken with the rice.
If he continues not to eat and doesn't start drinking well in the next day or 2 then he needs to go back to the vet to rule out complications from the surgery.
To be on the safe side you could call them now and ask if they want you to bring him in.

Milk is a very bad idea.
Dogs are lactose intolerant, this will cause stomach upset and possibly vomitting which will put him off food even more and take away the few nutrients he is getting.
Pedialyte if he's dehydrated, a bit at a time. It's safe for dogs.

My dog loves milk. Not too much at one time. Didn't know anything about that. AND I use Gatorade too.

Milk can be fine for some dogs, mine loves drinking my left over coffee and both coffee and milk are bad for dogs but... it is always best not to suggest it to people as some dogs can have a severe reaction to even a small amount of milk because of the lactose.
If we say to do something on this site and then their dog ends up dying because of it... big trouble for us.
Always go the safest advice :)
