The oil painting is done by Minaz Jantz, so you were correct. It says '76 below the name.

I am sure this artist's name is Otto Jantz who was a SI resident. My parents who still live there have a large cityscape of NY and the SI ferry and a few smaller paitigs by him. My aunt also has several paintings as he was a family friend of some kind.

That painting was definitely done by Otto Jantz. He was my Uncle Otto and taught me how to paint. He lived on Bayview Avenue for his entire life. You are very lucky to have that beautiful painting. His son Steve Jantz still lives on Staten Island and his son Craig lives in New Jersey. Otto passed away years ago.

I actually remember this painting very well. It hung in his living room for many years.

I have six oil paintings by Otto Jantz, two of them quite large. In addition, I have a few art pieces he created specfically for my bedroom when I was a kid. He was a friend of my fathers in NY, I believe one of the original paintings I have in my collection won an award and is featured in the Maritime Museum in NY. In the next few weeks I am going to receive 3 more pieces from a relative, he painted some specific family members. Most of the art that I have from Otto was done Jantz 68-72-73. I love the oil painting you featured in your question, it's fantastic.

Azdan, Any chance you could post photos of the paintings you have? I would love to see them. My Uncle Otto was a great (under appreciated) artist. Thanks. Kristin :)
