2 weeks ago my husband replaced the 1980's faucet and vanity in our master bath.
Now when I turn on the water (hot or cold) it smells like mildew; I can actually smell it on my hands, so I know it is the water not the drain. None of the other faucets in the house have this problem. The new faucet is an American Standard Cadet 8115F; purchased specifically because the box said "speed connect drain--1/3 the parts, installs in 1/3 the time". He installed new 1/2" IPS connections as directed on the faucet box. We are on city water, this is a first floor bath which backs up to another bath. Sorry if I've given too much information (or not enough!), this is my first time posting a question here. Thanks for any and all assistance!

Sounds like you nay have installed some stinky bacteria at the same time you installed the faucet. If this were my problem I'd want to know if it were just in the faucet or the supplies as well. Let's do some detective work. Remove the aerator from the spout and draw a glass of water. Still stimky? If yes then shut the water off at the angle stops and unscrew the supplies. Now from each angle stop draw a glass of water and smell that. No stinky here I hope. If we have isolated the smell to the faucet I would do one of two things.
1) I would return the faucet as defective and ask for a replacement or a refund, **OR**
2) If the supplies are clear I would remove the faucet and soak it overnight in a bucket of bleach.
Your option, Good luck, Tom

Water from H&C angle stops smelled fine; we'll soak connections and entire faucet in bleach and see if that eliminates the problem. Thanks!

Have the faucet in the open position when you soak it. Good luck, Tom
