I have a Featherlite Weedeater model SST25. It will not start and does not seem to have any spark. I have changed the spark plug but no change. Any suggestions beyond taking to a dealer for servcie?

Here's a Manual for the featherlite:

Kill switch? If it stays at ground potential(defective), it will not start. Removing wire will disable the kill ciecuit(wont shut off, just touch kill wire to stop. Could be plug cap/wire, otherwise, someoneelse here may be of help.
Or a shop.

How did you determine no spark? Remove the plug, reattach the wire and ground the plug to the engine. When you pull the rope did you see any spark?

If you are POSITIVE there is NO Ignition, you should have no problem grabbing the plug/wire and pull to start, 2 things can happen, nothing, and you do have an ignition problem, or you get shocked, which will be good and bad.

Hi,
Yes, you must know if you have fire or not by some test. The fact that it does not start does not mean that, though I have heard it more times than I can count.
Manuals, parts and owners, are freely available from Poulan Pro - Poulan - Weed Eater - McCulloch - Home (http://www.poulan.com/) and choose Customer Service.
