I have an saving bank account in Ahmedabad, where I am residing. Now I need to open bank saving account in the same branch's another city i.e. Chennai, in my wife name. Is that possible?

She would probably need to open it and then you would be free to make any deposits after it was opened.
I really don't think you can put her name on an account without her signing for it.
