My Sony Vaio Laptop Model VGN FS 640 W has crashed due to a power surge and I had it repaired however I am unable to restart it without a Recovery CD which does not come with the model and of which I have not saved a copy I need to know how to get this restarted
Thanks,
Niranjali

I as well lost my recovery cds, BUT Don't WORRY THERE IS A CURE!

When the PC boots you must press umm either F12 or F11.. try all the F keys

And it will invoke the Sony Recovery App and will restore default programs/format your PC to how it originally was :) No need for the recovery cd when one is built into the PC already hope I helped

It seems this model has software to create a set of recovery discs by using:
VAIO® Recovery Wizard software VAIO® Control Center

If a set of recovery discs were not 'made', you may need to purchase the recovery discs for the laptop

You can check link below for some support options
Sony eSupport - VGN-FS640/W - Contact Support (http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/contact-land.pl?mdl=VGNFS640W)

You can choose to contact Tech Support to confirm this and purchase recovery discs if need be
