I live in a house (that I own) in Texas. About 2 years ago the guy I was seeing moved in with me and my two boys. He does not pay rent or any portion of the utilities other than the water bill. I pay for most of the groceries and supplies for the house as well as his car insurance and I am a co-signer on his car loan. I am tired of being taken advantage of and have repeatedly asked him to leave. When I do so he becomes just short of abusive and has told he that he has taken up residence here and I have no right to force him to leave. So what exactly are my rights? And how do I get him to go?

You must start legal eviction proceedings with him by giving him the required notice. Then when he does not leave, you go down to the courthouse and file a formal eviction.

He is a resident and has established some rights. You must evict him and don't expect this to go smoothly. If he is abusive you should start the eviction process but also call the police every time he threatens you or your children, a restraining order may help encourage him to scoot.
