I am in Florida and received notice that my wages are going to be garnished at 25% for a judgement that my ex-husband defaulted on after we were divorced. My name was still on the account and he is now retired so they are coming after me. This judgement was also entered more than 7 years ago. Not sure that makes a difference but... HELP! I can't possibly afford to give up 25% of my wages. I am barely getting by as it is. I don't want to end up homeless. Thank you

If you were jointly on the account, the divorce decree while it may make him liable in divorce court, does not take your name off the debt. It only gives you the right to sue him in divorce court for payment back after you pay.
Judgements are good for normaly 10 years and can be renewed.
So yes if this was a joint debt ( if you were listed on it) they can garnish your pay, there is no way to stop it
You can file in court ( divorce court) to force him to repay you. ** unless he filed bankruptcy

What I don't understand is that the creditor is NOT going after him at all... he lives in another state other than Florida. He receives a LOT more money every month than I do AND he owns property, which I don't. I gave the creditors all of his contact info and they don't want to pursue it??
