Hello. My computer was built by me, it has:
Core 2 Duo 2.33 Ghz
GeForce 8600 GT Graphics card
2 GB DDR2 RAM
500 watt PSU
Maxtor 320 GB hard drive
CD/DVD+/- RW
Vista Home Premium
Built in late 2007, and I have a 17" Acer widescreen LCD monitor also from then. I recently moved across the ocean, and before I left, my computer worked fine... there was a slight problem with the PSU but most of the time my computer worked well. When I got here, my computer was in the same condition and works fine, except I get no signal on my monitor. I can tell my computer is booted up (wireless keyboard works and I hear beeps at the very beginning for BIOS), and when my monitor is not connected to the computer, it says "no connection" but when it is connected, it says "no signal." I know that both the monitor and cable work properly because I connected both this monitor and another monitor to my dad's laptop, and they both work, but neither work on my computer.
I wonder if it has to do with the fact that it is plugged into the VGA slot on my motherboard, and not plugged into my video card... but this cannot be the case because my video card doesn't even have a port that fits the monitor cable and my monitor was plugged into the motherboard working properly before. Unfortunately, I don't think I have my graphics card's manual with me. Any suggestions?
