View Full Version : Water will not shut off at sink

The hot water in my bathroom sink continues to run when I turn the lever off. I use the shut-off under the sink to turn it off.
It is a Delta faucet with separate hot and cold levers. (center-set?). The house was built in 2006.
Do I just need to take that set apart and find the problem?
Thanks.

Hi Bode21:
Let's hope it is that easy... ;)
Shut off the water supply and remove the handle. Under the handle there should be a nut that can be removed. Remove the nut and pull up on the stem assembly... see image (note the plastic NUB on the stem as it needs to go back into the groove in the brass housing with the same orientation).
Under the stem will be a washer cup and spring... see image. Remove these using a long thin philips head screwdriver and take the washer/spring to home depot or another home improvement store and find a delta replacement kit (sold EVERYWHERE).
Replace the washer cup and spring, replace the stem (oriented correctly) and then tighten the nut down about the same as you found it. Replace handle and you should be all set.
Let us know if you have questions...
