When I turn the ignition key I get nothing. No lights, no sound, no clicking no litlle jump in the ammeter needle. This happened once and I played with the ignition switch plug connection and then it started right up. The next time I went to start I got nothing again and no amount of playing with the ignition switch helped. I'm thinking the ignition switch is bad or maybe the switch under the seat. My question: do ignition switches ever go bad ? It doesn't seem like there is a lot there to go wrong. If not the ignition or safety switches what else could it be. I'm assuming if it was starter or solenoid I'd get some kind of noise or lights. I can check the battery but assume it is OK since it worked fine right up to when I couldn't get it started.

Do ignition switches ever go bad, sure they do, I think yours could be shot right now. If playing with the switch several times to get it to start tells me to check the harness connection for corrosion or loose wire. Switch could be good but poor conductivity at the harness will cause no power.
