I know that there are many factors that go into house pricing. My wife and I are traveling on route 95 South through North Carolina on our way from New York to Georgia. I've seen a few billboards for these massive homes that are going for $180,000. Back in NY I bought my tiny Cape Cod for $280,000 and it needed to be gutted down to the studs! I noticed the same thing when visiting friends in Maine. Up there $90k got you a nice starter home... where I live that would probably get me a real nice two-car garage. Can anyone shed a little more light on this for me?

Hello l:

It's simply a matter of supply and demand. If an area were desirable, the home prices go up. The less desirable an area is, the cheaper the houses are.

Hello again, l:

Interestingly, there's another member here (EtWolverine) with that same avatar. The odds against that are probably a jillion to one.
