We have a Kenmore Elite that we bought in 2003. The washer has worked great until this week. The washer will attempt to fill with water once we select the cycle but it appears as if the drainage holes at the bottom are open and draining the water as fast as it can pour into the washer... hence, the water remains at the sample shallow level and will not rise to fill the washer.

Any ideas of what could be causing this?

Is this a top load washer? The water that comes in must be going somewhere so find out were it is going. On the floor or out the drain hose into the drain. If it is going out the drain hose then your drain may have fallen and be to low. Lift the drain pipe.

It is a top load washer. I will try to lift the drain and see if that works. Thanks.
