Toilet has to be flushed mulitple times even when just fluid in it. Please help, we would like not to have to replace the toilet. But it is a real water waster at this time. Thanks

Have u checked the amount of water in tank. Should be about 1/2'' below overflow tube.

If this is not problem, need more info.

Yes it is 1/2 " below. I saw another users question on this and I went around the rim with a coat hanger to unclog any of the holes under the rim and checked the bottom of toilet to see if there was any corroision. There is none.

Remove lid and watch flush. The does flush valve stay up long enough? Chain should have only enough slack to ensure that it can close properly. About 1" of slack or less.

You did check the jet to be sure it wasn't clogtged? Check the tank water level, it should be at the mark in the tank or 3/8 to 1/2" below the top of the over flow tube. Now look at the flapper, If it has wavy edges on the flat surface, replace it. The linkage between the flapper and the flush lever should have 1/4" play when the tank is filled. Also, check the small tube coming out of the top of the ballcock and make sure it's connect to and draining into the white overflow tube
