Been having a problem of a dry and sometimes slightly sore throat.Have had this problem for about four months now.Now its not the whole throat that is dry,its either the left or right side,sometimes it's a little spot not always sore but very irritating and makes me always want to clear the throat though nothing comes out.Have been to the doctor who didn't bother much and said its probably a viral infection and didn't give any medication.About a month ago went back to the doctor who gave tablets for viral infection but I still have the problem.

The doctor looked and said he can't see anything abnormal,I stopped smoking eleven years ago but however I am in contact with smokers.I am a support worker and give medication in one or to rooms of smokers.That normally takes about ten to fifteen minutes in the morning and evening.

You need to follow up as this is clearly abnormal and could be potentially serious.
For relief I would try a warm salt water rinse every day ,at least three times a day.
